Dr Jacques Otto completed his initial medical training at the University of Pretoria, South Africa in 1981. He then went on to complete his Master of Family Doctor Practice Degree (University of Pretoria) in 1986 and Master of Medical Pharmacology (University of Pretoria) in 1988; Master of Philosophy in Medical Law (University of Glasgow) in 2001.
Postgraduate academic diplomas include: Member of the Faculty of General Practitioners ( College of Medicine of South Africa ); Diploma in Forensic Medicine ( College of Medicine of South Africa ); Diploma in Sedation and Pain Control ( University of Stellenbosch , South Africa ).

In 1988 he commenced general practice, including part-time appointment as plastic surgery assistant to Mr Richard Stott (Plastic Surgeon, Johannesburg , South Africa ). In 1990 Dr Otto was appointed Scientific Affairs Director of Abbott Laboratories, South Africa , where he gained invaluable experience in pharmaceutical R&D. He was also responsible for several international (including FDA) and national clinical trials, and during this time was involved in seven new product marketing authorisation approvals by the South African Medicine Control Agency.

In 1993, Dr Otto relocated to the UK , where his clinical practice has included anaesthesia and conscious sedation and forensic medicine, and since 2000 he has specifically specialised in anti-ageing and cosmetic & aesthetic medicine.

Over the last four years, Dr Otto has been extensively involved in the research and development of new anti-ageing cosmeceuticals, cosmetic products, cosmetic non-invasive medical device development and cosmetic & aesthetic minimally invasive techniques.

Recognised as a renowned authority in the cosmetological industry, Dr Otto has co-authored scientific and peer-reviewed papers and conducted international clinical trials on behalf of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the field of cosmeceuticals. He additionally holds appointments in the UK as Consultant/Adviser in Cosmetic Medicine for Cosmesis Ltd, UltraShape Inc. (Principal Investigator Phase II CE Mark Study) and Aesthera Inc.

Dr Otto is an approved international trainer for Botox®, Dysport®, Isologen®, Aesthera®, Ultrashape® and regularly conducts training seminars for medical professionals at the Cosmedicate Clinic in London . He is frequently requested to give lectures at cosmetological industry forums and conferences around the world.
