How Does PPx Therapy Work?

HOW IS PPX THERAPY DIFFERENT FROM OTHER LASER AND LIGHT BASED HAIR REMOVAL TREATMENTS AVAILABLE?

PPx therapy’s patented process combines the unique properties of therapeutic light with pressure to bring you a breakthrough method for the treatment of unwanted hair, uneven pigment and unwanted veins.

PPx therapy is the first and only therapy to effectively combine pneumatic energy (pressure) with broadband light. PPx therapy differs from other laser and light based treatments in that they are five times more efficient in the delivery of energy to undesirable pigmentation marks, veins and unwanted hair.

This highly efficient delivery of energy allows PPx therapy to use a fraction of the energy that other treatments require. PPx therapy is painless because energy is concentrated into the target area, whilst protecting the surrounding normal skin tissue. This also makes PPx therapy safer than other popular treatment techniques.

A gentle ‘pulling’ motion lifts a small amount of the treatment area into the specially designed hygienic treatment tip of the hand piece. The targeted hair follicles, pigmentation marks and unsightly veins are lifted and brought closer to the skin’s surface. When therapeutic light is applied, the light is converted to a gentle heat energy which is absorbed by the target areas. The energy applied is concentrated in the target to be destroyed, protecting the surrounding normal skin tissue. Skin is then instantly returned to its normal position and the hand piece is moved onto the next treatment area. The process is repeated until the entire treatment area is covered.

PPx therapy is up to five times more efficient in the delivery of energy to the targeted treatment area.  This highly efficient delivery of energy allows PPx therapy to use a fraction of the energy that other treatments require, making PPx therapy safer than other treatment modalities. 

FAST AND PAIN FREE RESULTS

Treatments are fast, relaxing and painless. Based on the results of initial clinical studies, PPx treatments do not incur the usual side effects such as the redness, crusting or other usual post treatment discomforts widely associated with laser treatments.

PPx treatments do not require pre-treatments with topical anesthetics or cooling gels, additionally reducing treatment time by a further 35 - 45 minutes.

Photopneumatic therapy is very fast - 4 to 7 times faster than other laser or light based technologies. Below is a comparison of typical treatment durations for commonly requested treatment areas.

HYGIENIC

Since PPx therapy is designed to provide you with the safest and most hygienic treatment experience available, the Cosmedicate consultant will use a brand new (disposable) tip for each treatment (hair removal, removal of unwanted pigment, removal of unwanted veins) and body part (back, legs, upper lip, under arm etc.).

The tips provide you with personalised hygienic treatments while eliminating the risks of cross contamination and are uniquely customised to treat a wide range of conditions and body parts.

BEFORE THE TREATMENT

Before treatment begins, your Cosmedicate consultant will apply a soothing mist to your skin to increase surface hydration.

DURING TREATMENT

The hand piece will be placed on the area to be treated and the appropriate settings will be selected; based on your skin type (the amount of melanin in your skin) and the body part being treated.

You will feel a gentle and warm sensation as your skin is drawn into the treatment tip. In less than a second, mild light energy will be applied and you will feel your skin being gently released back into normal position. Your Cosmedicate consultant will then move on to the next treatment area and repeat the process over the entire treatment area.

In a recent clinical study, 100% of patients reported no pain during treatment and the treatment sensation was most commonly described as being similar to that of a warm massage.

POST TREATMENT

There are no post-treatment regimens associated with PPx Therapy, so once the treatment is completed, clients are free to resume normal daily activities.
